Bemidji Symphony Orchestra Annual Meeting Notice:
All Orchestral Society Members (those who have donated $10 or more to the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra during the past "Tunes & Topics" concert season) are invited to attend the BSO's annual business meeting on June 27, 2013 at 6:00 PM in the meeting room at Lueken's North. Business will include a treasurer's report and the election of new board members and officers.
Just in time for Presidents Day, humanities scholar Clay S. Jenkinson returns to Bemidji to join the BSO on stage in the characters of Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt! Jenkinson’s unique style of living history performance is enlightening and highly entertaining!
The concert, under the direction of Dr. Beverly Everett, includes Corelli’s Concerto Grosso No. 6 in F major, the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 by J.S. Bach, and Handel’s Royal Fireworks Music, all from the era of President Jefferson. The second half of the concert features music of the era of President Roosevelt and includes popular pieces by Scott Joplin and Stephen Foster as well as An American Frontier by Calvin Custer, America the Beautiful, Bill Holcombe’s Cowboy Fantasy, and more.
The audience is invited to a “press conference” immediately following the concert, during which Mr. Jefferson, Mr. Roosevelt and Dr. Everett will share insights and take audience questions.
Tickets for the concert are available at the door or in advance at Lueken’s Village Foods North, Brigid’s Pub, or online at brownpapertickets.com. Prices are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens 62+, and $10 for college students with ID. Students grades K–12 are admitted FREE. For those who hold BSO season tickets, the February Concert is included as part of the season. The doors open for seating at 2:30 and all seats are general admission.
