Sadie and Sarah Hamrin
Sarah Hamrin started playing the violin at age six after being inspired by a friend. At age seven, she became the youngest member of the newly-formed Bemidji Youth Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Beverly Everett. At age nine, after three years with violin teacher Frances Van Dorn, she traded in her violin for a viola and began studying with Dr. Michelle Laliberte. At age ten, she performed the fourth movement of Telemann's Viola Concerto in G Major in a combined performance of the Bemidji Youth Orchestra and Bemidji Symphony Orchestra. A year later her performance of "La Folia" by M. Marais was selected to be on Oprah.com as part of Oprah's search for talented kids. She joined the viola section of the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra at the age of eleven. Sarah has also played the piano since she was four and currently studies with Margaret Maxwell at Bemidji State University. She is in the seventh grade and schooled at home by her mother. Aside from music, Sarah loves to read and spend time outdoors.

At seven, she performed the first movement of the Bach A minor violin concerto in a combined performance of the Bemidji Youth Orchestra and Bemidji Symphony Orchestra. At the age of eight, she became the youngest member of the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra and her performance of "Polish Dance" by Edmund Severn was selected to be on Oprah.com as part of Oprah's search for talented kids. In 2010, at the age of nine, she was awarded second place in the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition with the first movement of Violin Concerto No. 23 by G.B. Viotti. Sadie has also played piano since the age of four and is currently studying with Margaret Maxwell at Bemidji State University. Sadie is in the fifth grade and schooled at home by her mother. Aside from music, her favorite activities are reading, running, and playing with her little brother Isaac.
