An unforgettable performance is on the way— and your experience can start long before the first note. Grab a bite and enjoy all that Bemidji has to offer. Browse our quick tips so that when the music begins, all that’s left to do is settle in and savor the moment.

Our hope is that everyone feels welcome and comfortable to share in the magic of live music at the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra.

Three women stand on a pontoon boat on a river, playing wind instruments near a stone bridge with lamps and a clock tower that has the word 'Bemidji' on it, under a partly cloudy sky.
  • Our concerts take place in the Bemidji High School auditorium. The campus offers ample parking, though on weekends with multiple events, the closest spots can fill up quickly. If someone in your group would benefit from a shorter walk, arriving 20–30 minutes early is a smart way to snag a spot near the main entrance.

  • No dress code here. Bring your own style and enjoy the night your way.

  • Seating is open, so it’s first come, first served. There’s no need to stress about finding the “perfect” spot — we truly believe every seat in the house offers a great view and an even better experience.

  • Not at all! But a bit of context can go a long way. Our program has short, helpful notes about the pieces and the musicians—grab one as you head in.

  • Save your applause for the end of each piece. If a work has several movements, hold off until the last one finishes. And if you’re unsure, just follow the crowd—our seasoned concertgoers are great guides. Pro tip: Keep an eye on the conductor. When the piece is truly over, her arms will drop to her sides, and she may turn to acknowledge the audience.

  • We ask that you refrain from photos and videos while the musicians are performing. Before the concert, during intermission, or after the final bow—snap away. Share your moments with #bemidjisymphony and we’ll like and share some of our favorites.

  • We know it’s hard to unplug. Please silence your phone before the concert starts and avoid using it while the musicians are playing. Even a quick screen check can light up the row.

  • Most concerts include a 15 to 20‑minute intermission. It’s the perfect window to use the restroom, stretch, grab a concessions snack, or flip through your program to see what’s coming up next.
